Collection: Urushi

Beginning with watercolors, my artistic journey led me to the singular medium of urushi through a series of serendipitous encounters.Today, I work with lacquer daily, feeling a profound connection to my mother’s roots in a small port town in southern Hokkaido—a place where ancient lacquer history breathes. I hope that the depth of the lacquer layers and their evolving textures over time will serve as a mirror, reflecting the viewer's inner self and offering a modest catalyst for a quiet dialogue with one’s soul.
