Obbligato (18 × 18 × 2 cm / 7 × 7 × 0.75 inches)

Obbligato meaning countermelody. The shadow that plays alongside, enhancing the main melody, is none other than "another self" who knows every part of who you are. Using urushi (Japanese lacquer), a traditional material that hardens through the layering of time, I have painted abstract layers of color. In those fleeting moments when you feel you might lose sight of the present, may the obbligato flowing through you gently support you.

A Work That Changes Over Time: The artist is a painter, and Urushi is used not as a traditional craft material, but specifically as a painting medium.Created with natural materials—Urushi—this work transforms its expression over time. Urushi increases in saturation when exposed to ultraviolet light, but this change varies depending on the environment and conditions. It cannot be predicted with certainty. This unpredictability is precisely the charm of a unique work made with natural materials. We hope you will embrace and enjoy these changes over time, experiencing the work as a companion through the years.
