The Japanese word amu (to weave) resonates with the sound of the English word am — as in, “I am.”
My inherent nature and the place where I stand. The situations I find myself in, and the feelings present in this moment.
These elements quietly overlap and intertwine, weaving the tapestry of my life. The form that emerges is not something to be asserted to others, but something that simply — and certainly — is here.
This piece captures a moment in that ongoing process of becoming who I am.

A Work That Changes Over Time: The artist is a painter, and Urushi is used not as a traditional craft material, but specifically as a painting medium.Created with natural materials—Urushi—this work transforms its expression over time. Urushi increases in saturation when exposed to ultraviolet light, but this change varies depending on the environment and conditions. It cannot be predicted with certainty. This unpredictability is precisely the charm of a unique work made with natural materials. We hope you will embrace and enjoy these changes over time, experiencing the work as a companion through the years.
